0ffshore Venice LA Fishing Report: 04-02-2006

Venice fishing is just getting better and better. I made a trip out sat on the cat and based on some new information I went to another spot to look for bait and let me tell you the bait was not there. LOL Didnt make a whole lot of difference though. I caught a couple small blackfin trolling inshore and used them for chum offshroe because there were too many weeds to troll at first.

We made three drifts and picked up three 30 pound yellowfin on 60 pound leader. On one of the drifts we spotted some yellowfin jumping so I threw a tuna hunter popper at them. That yielded our biggest fish of the day at 50 pounds. The fish wasnt even hooked. Somehow the popper got lassoed around its tail.

After that the fishing slowed a little so we headed south and found minimal weeds. It was a slow but steady pick there as we caught four 30-35 pound fish on pink mirrorlures and rapalas and one on a squid chain.

We then headed north back to our first spot and on the first pass we picked up a double on 30 pound fish. We had two 10 year olds catch their first tuna on this trip which was fun to watch. We ended up the day with 10 yellowfin from 30-50 pounds

One of the happy dads sent these pics to me to add to the report from a week ago when I took 2 kids and their dads fishing.
