Offshore Venice LA Fishing Report Feb 16 2016
It has been a productive winter on the few decent days we have had to get out. Most of the winter has been shot due to gale force winds though. The chunk bite has been excellent most days I have made it out with the biggest I have got yet being 160. Most days we have had multiple 100 pound class fish though. I have been using heavier leader then normal because the sharks have been so bad at eating my tunas. If you seem to fight one much more then half an hour the sharks will get it. So i have been taking my chances at getting fewer bites but to be able to put more drag on the ones I hook and put them in the boat.
The wahoo haven’t shown up consistently yet. Not sure if that is due to the ultra high river we had in january or not though it had to have some affect. I haven’t seen blue water in I don’t know how long. The new amberjack rules are not fun as most of the ones I seem to catching jigging are 32-33 inches. until the live hard tails show up its going to be hard to consistently get limits of jacks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________ http://www.fishlcba.com/charter_capt…rger_2612.html
